Our Heritage

Established in 1976 as Nemco, the company started as a contract machining operation. Beginnings were meager—a 5,000-square-foot storage building and three employees.

In 1977, an appointment with a medical company established the foundation for a path that would ultimately change the plans for Nemco's future. By 1981, Nemco had added 5,000 square feet to the original building and employed 16 individuals.

Steady growth continued through 1990, when the decision was made to build a new 31,000-square-foot facility to meet the growth demands of the company.

2000 brought many exciting changes for the organization. Nemco was purchased and merged with CoMed, an orthopaedic splint manufacturer, to create the current company Nemcomed. In 2000, Nemcomed again underwent an expansion, adding significant manufacturing space in addition to an engineering technology department.

Even more recently, Nemcomed is expanding yet again with the construction of a new manufacturing, engineering and research & development facility in Fort Wayne. The 34,000 square foot facility will be built on approximately 7 acres and will complement Nemcomed’s existing campus in Hicksville, Ohio. Company plans also call for an additional 20,000 square feet to be constructed in 2009,
with further expansion possible beyond 2009.

From our beginning as a single-person entrepreneurship, Nemcomed today is a full-service precision medical instrument and implant manufacturer focused on exceeding customer expectations, offering value-added services and providing "concept-to-package" solutions.
