NEMCOMED Opens Fort Wayne Implant / Advanced Manufacturing and R & D Facility

Medical Device Manufacturer Plans Up to 160 New Jobs by 2011

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (October 27, 2006)—NEMCOMED, Inc. CEO Kevin Countryman cut the ribbon marking the official opening of the company’s new implant / advance manufacturing and R & D facility this afternoon in Fort Wayne.  The facility complements NEMCOMED’s existing campus in Hicksville, Ohio.  The 34,000 square foot Fort Wayne structure was built on approximately six acres of land in the North Clinton Business Park adjacent to Interstate 69 (just south of the intersection of North Clinton Street and Wallen Road).  Company plans call for an additional 20,000 square feet to be constructed in 2009, with further expansion possible beyond 2009.

The new facility will focus on implant manufacturing, primarily trauma and spinal implants and advanced manufacturing / research and development.  The new facility expands NEMCOMED’s manufacturing capacity to over 80,000 square feet and allows for specific cells dedicated to producing customers’ implants as an adjunct to the instrumentation manufacture currently being performed at the Hicksville plant.  The additional capacity will allow for continued pursuit of high-volume, complex project launches.  The new facility will be staffed with experienced manufacturing engineers dedicated to each customer.  Customer focused, cellular manufacturing will be emphasized.

“NEMCOMED is proud to bring this new building on line following months of study, planning and construction,” Countryman stated.  “The new facility houses general and specialized machining equipment, engineering support, R&D, sales and marketing, and a new development company exploring other growth areas for our organization,” he added.

“This project helps underscore Northeast Indiana’s place as a hub for orthopaedic and life science-related companies,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard. “We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Kevin Countryman and his team at NEMCOMED.”
